    OceanPedia

    Maybe it will be interesting for site members to create in oceanographers WiKi kind of Wikipedia for oceanographers. Enciclopedia which will contain not only definitions of words like Double diffusion, Turbulence, Mixed Layer, but useful links related to this terms, main publications, discussions (as WakoWiki allow to make comments to page). The main parts of each article can be later published in Wikipedia, but on the Oceanographers.net we can create something more scientific with equations and case studies. What do you think about it?

    Yes, another great idea from koldunovn

    Long before, it was he who brought the idea of Oceanographers Wiki.
    (Forums -> Oceanographers Wiki)
    After installation of Oceanographers Wiki, he started his work
    on translating Robert Stewart's Introduction to Physical Oceanography
    to Russian language. Just now he announced that he has finished
    with his translation. Let us congratulate him on this big effort for
    Oceanography.

    Here is a look at the contents page: http://www.oceanographers.net/wiki/ConTents?v=enh
    Of course it is in Russian, if you see any weird characters in your browser.

    About OceanPedia, let us have it on Oceanographers Net.
    May be we can build it around Oceanographers Wiki itself.
    Everyone will be able to help, add content, discuss etc.
    Cheers and all support

    Just small correction – I (and now it’s not only me but all community of translators) did not finished translation yet. We translate only about half of the book and translation still need to be improved. What I have done now is just put all translated pages to WiKi to allow people make corrections and work together in more proper way. If someone can help us with translation of chapters, paragraphs or even sentences and words – please do this! Corrections is always welcome too, because style is not perfect

    If we want to start OceanPedia – we have to have some starting point. Initial amount of information. We have to copy it from somewhere (of course with respect to copyrights). It could be one or several sources. I suggest taking it from Wikipedia. Each article from Wikipedia should become a skeleton. We have to put more science on it.

    Do you agree with this and have you any other suggestion about the information sources?
