New Delhi, Dec 29 (UNI) At least three moderate intensity quakes were recorded off the Andaman and Nicobar islands this morning, three days after the massive undersea earthquake near Indonesia released the killer tsunami.
The first of the three, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, occurred at 0710 hrs and had an epicentre near Camotra in the Little Nicobar island group, an IMD preliminary report here said.
Another, measuring 6.1 on the Richter was recorded 11 minutes later from near Carnicobar island.

The island group has been experiencing aftershocks from Sunday's 9.0 magnitude temblor off the neighbouring northern Indonesian island of Sumatra.
The quake which triggered the massive tidal waves that crashed into coastlines from Maldives to Malaysia has killed over 65,000 people in the Southern Asian region.
The Andaman and Nicobar island group which was among the first to be swept by the tsunami has so far recorded over 3,000 casualties.
