Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Position under OCEANSAT-II Program
Applications are invited from suitable candidates to fill up one post of Junior Research Fellow in a joint research project of the Department of Space under OCEANSAT-II Utilization Program entitled “Synergistic application of Scatterometer and OCM data from OCEANSAT-II for the studies of coastal upwelling in the southwest coast of India” funded by SAC-ISRO. The position of the candidate would be starting from March 2008 to January 2011. The selected candidate would also get the opportunity to register for Ph.D. program of Cochin University of Science and Technology, on qualifying the NET/CAT.
Fellowship: (Rs. 12000/- p.m. HRA – for 1st & 2nd year and Rs. 14000/- p.m. + HRA for the 3rd year: The HRA will be paid as per CUSAT rules)
Essential Qualification: M.Sc. (Oceanography) / M.Tech. (Ocean Technology) with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point grading system.
Desirable Experience: Cruise experience; research/working experience in applying ocean colour and scatterometer data from Indian and European/US satellites with a strong background in computer programming using Ferret/GMT, MATLAB/IDL on Linux & Windows platforms.
Nature of work: The JRF will be required to participate in boat/ship cruises for in situ observations.
