It is well known breakthrough in Spectral approach of wave modeling started from pioneering work of Gelci et al, having known higher versions of wave models started evolving inherently with better physics and numerics representing sea-state. The past one decade however notice a stand-still on research in spectral wave modeling. By still considering possible ameliorations in the physics and numerics of wave models, there are still inherent limitations using standard spectrum representing sea-state.
This paper by Cavaleri provide suggestions in future possbilities of a deterministic representation of sea surface, thereby providing an opportunity to understand in detail the physics of wave evolution and derive the non-linear transfer functions.
Hope this paper benefit readers researching on numerical modeling of surface waves.
