Research Associate II/Meteorologist in the GeoResources Institute
within the ERC at Mississippi State University.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conduct research activities on severe weather issues in Mississippi
2. Perform model simulations and ensemble runs of squall lines events
3. Perform data assimilation variational analysis experiments using radar data and in-situ data
4. Assist PI with monthly reports and staff supervision
5. Pursue research partnerships
6. Ensure maximum distribution of research findings in extension publications, scientific, peer-reviewed and lay publications and forums.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Master of Science or Ph.D. in atmospheric science or equivalent scientific field
2. Demonstrated background in numerical modeling and radar data
assimilation
3. Peer-review publication experience
4. Knowledge of ensemble modeling
5. Programming experience with some of the following: MM5, WRF, FORTRAN,
C, shell scripts, NCAR Graphics, GRADs, MATLAB, GMT, GEMPAK, and VIS5D
