Type:Met-jobs

A position is available for a postdoctoral scientist with an interest in geostrophic turbulence. The overal goal of the project is to improve our understanding of the mechanical energy budget and pathways from large scale forcing by the winds to dissipation. The results will be important in elucidating the energy available for mixing that ultimately drives the meridional overturning circulation. Thus this project provides a unique opportunity to apply GFD theory to a problem of great practical importance.

The successful candidate will decide to work on idealized modelling, and/or analysis of both observational and realistic ocean general circulation model data using recently developed analysis methods.
