Post Doctoral Position in Aerosol Spectroscopy

The Aerosol Laboratory of the Waterloo Centre for Atmospheric Sciences
(WCAS) has a new position at the Post Doctoral Level in infrared and
Raman spectroscopy of particulate matter. This position involves a
collaboration between the WCAS and researchers at Environment Canada
that is designed to develop methods for the rapid chemical
characterization of urban particulate matter (PM). The overall goal of
the program is to provide a better understanding of the connection
between the composition of chemically complex PM and its health
effects. The work involves the use of existing equipment for field
measurements of urban PM and also the development and improvement of the
technology. Candidates with experience in Raman spectroscopy of the
condensed phase will be given preference.

The Aerosol Laboratory group currently consists of approximately 13
personnel at the graduate student and post doctoral levels as well as a
mechanical technician and computer systems manager. Further information
on the technical aspects of the work may be obtained from Professor J.J.
Sloan, WCAS Research Director (http://www.science.uwaterloo.ca/~sloanj).

The WCAS is located at the University of Waterloo (_http://www.uwaterloo.ca/_) in the Kitchener-Waterloo urban area (_http://win.uwaterloo.ca/win/_), which has a population of
approximately 250,000, and is surrounded by a pleasant, mostly agricultural, rural region. See our local weather forecast at http://www.forecast.uwaterloo.ca for current K-W meteorology.
