Vacancy: Large-Eddy Simulation / Aircraft Wing
An atmosphere research position (PhD student / post-doctoral) is available
starting on 1 January, 2006.
The position involves numerical simulation of atmospheric flow over an
aircraft wing using LES (Large-Eddy Simulation).
The successful applicant will join a diverse research group of engineers and
meteorologists that is addressing a range of fluid mechanic and flight dynamic
problems.
The successful candidate will develop and test LES code for single pre-defined
eddies and complex atmospheric flow under various conditions. A strong
background in LES development and application is therefore expected. A Ph.D.
in atmospheric science or related field is advantageous but no precondition.
Good numerical skills, the ability to work in a team, communication skills and
the ability to do research on own initiative are required.
The place of employment is the Institute of Aerospace Systems (Institut für
Luft- und Raumfahrtsysteme, ILR) of the Technical University of Braunschweig,
Germany. The ILR is part of one of Europe's most important research airports
and offers a multidisciplinary working environment.
The duration is initially four years. Salary depends on the candidates age and
family status but will be around 38,000 Euro (BAT IIa).
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the
position is filled. Applicants should send an application letter indicating
research interests, curriculum vitae with publication list, and copies of no
more than three selected publications to:
Dr. Jens Bange
Technische Universität Braunschweig
Institut für Luft- und Raumfahrtsysteme
Hermann-Blenk-Str. 23
