support its operations and services. Within its mission to advance the
science of meteorology and climate in the Australasian region, BMRC is
seeking candidates for three new positions in support of the "South East
Australian Climate Initiative". This is a multi-agency program that is
aimed at attribution of recent climate change and improved prediction of
climate variability at sub-continental scale in South East Australia.
Executive Level 1 (SPOC) Research Scientist $71625-$7743 (Reference
0200)- Lead research effort to assess, improve, and utilize seasonal
predictions of climate variability in southeast Australia using BMRC's
coupled seasonal forecast model. Duties include investigation and
implementation of physical-statistical methods to improve the skill and
utility of these forecasts at regional scale. Interaction with
stakeholders and other research organizations involved with the program
is required.
Contact person: Dr Harry Hendon on +61 3 9669 4120, h.hendon@bom.gov.au.
APS Level 6 (PO2) Scientist $57262-$64182 (Reference 0201)- Participate
in research and development in support of the BMRC dynamical seasonal
prediction project, particularly in relation to hind-cast integration,
testing and documentation of coupled model performance and development
of suites of model output products.
Contact person: Dr Oscar Alves on +61 3 9669 4835, o.alves@bom.gov.au.
APS Level 6 (PO2) Scientist $57262-$64182 (Reference 0199) - Undertake
studies directed at detection and attribution of recent climatic trends
in southeast Australia; including application of a statistical
downscaling techniques to relate observed regional trends with
large-scale changes projected by global climate models. Interact with
stakeholders and co-ordinate with other organizations involved in
detection/attribution studies.20
Contact person: Dr Bertrand Timbal on +61 3 9669 4697,
