Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in chemical data
assimilation and global atmospheric modelling in the Department of Physics
at the University of Toronto. The work will involve exploiting recently
available satellite measurements of trace gases, using data assimilation
and inverse modelling techniques together with global three-dimensional
modelling of tropospheric chemistry and transport, to improve our
understanding of the impact of pollution on the composition of the
atmosphere. Particular focus will be on 1) quantifying surface emissions
of environmentally important trace gases and 2) better characterizing the
export of regional pollution to the global atmosphere.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in atmospheric science or a related field
and experience with global atmospheric modelling and data analysis.
Experience with remote sensing data retrievals is desirable. The position
is for one year, renewable for a second year. Interested applicants should
send curriculum vitae, brief statement of research interests, and contact
information for three references to Prof. Dylan Jones, Department of
Physics, University of Toronto, 60 St. George Street, Toronto, Ontario,
Canada M5S 1A7. Email: dbj@atmosp.physics.utoronto.ca.
