Tenure-track faculty position
The rapidly expanding Department of Earth and
Atmospheric Sciences at Purdue University invites applications for a
tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level,
beginning in August 2006. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in
atmospheric or related sciences, with demonstrated excellence in
research on synoptic-scale processes.
The successful candidate will add to the expertise in
the department’s focus in Climate and Extreme Weather (CLEW), which
actively investigates the links between climate-scale forcing,
synoptic-scale weather patterns, and extreme weather events. He/she
will also have the opportunity to join emerging multidisciplinary
College of Science initiatives (see www.science.purdue.edu/COALESCE)
in climate change and computational science as well as the campus-
wide Purdue Climate Change Research Center. Finally, the candidate
will contribute to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels,
in areas that relate to this broad subject matter. Although primary
consideration will be given to candidates engaged in synoptic-scale
research, candidates of exceptional merit in other areas of earth and
atmospheric sciences will also be considered.
