hi all,
I am working on Tsunami Numerical Modeling using Tunami N2 surce code. Rather doing it for Nagapattinam area.....Now I need an image which shows area from Sumatra region to the S-E coastline of India. If somebody could suggest some nice image somewhere on the internet.....wil be gud!
Anyway I do not have an Oceanography background...clear my doubts on as to what is Markers Test file which is an input parameter in the model code.

if you need high resolution then take images from google earth or world wind from nasa. both the images will help you i think.
Of course these are not real time images but it will help to make simulations etc.
kind of job.
for google earth visit: http://earth.google.com
for world wind visit: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov

To get high resolution image using the above links it is fine but is it really possible to use it for simulation purpose? How?

I have good background on FVM for hyperboliv problems,
Now I 'm going to work on numerical methods for tsunami modeling,
Does anybody help me on governing equations of tsunami (physics and mathematics of tsunami), please?

hai,
it is good to see google earth for the u have been asked. it will clear picture with lat, long and what ever picture u want in the map.
i think it is the good suggestion.
i am fresher for this job although mineis oceanography background.
bye...........

Hi Rahul
I am interested to lear about TUNAMI-N2 for mi country. If you can hep me ,so we would work together.
I hope your notice about that.
My best regards.

I was reading your posts related to tsunami modeling. We are working on tsunami modeling at IIT Kharagpur, India , and very recently we have published a paper in Geophysical Research Letters relating to our work. It is called ' Tsunami Travel Time Prediction using Neural Networks. The paper reports some results for the very efficient calculation of tsunami travel time. You may check out the following Link for the abstract of the paper: http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2006/2006GL026688.shtml
With best regards.

Rahul !!!
To get a high resolution image for your study, especially if you are working on coastal inundation modeling, it is better to go for CARTOSAT data. To obtain this you may contact NRSA, Hyderabad.
The "markers.txt" file you find in the N2 source, is the water level data at defined locations.

Dear friend,my name is Tirupati Reddy and am working in Tsunami Modelling at ICMAM-PD Chennai.
I already did Tsunami modelling for Nagapattinam area and I got the inundation using TUNAMI N2 code.I want to share my results with you and i am interested to learn some of things from you. Here i am giving my email address.
