Three Graduate Assistantships (MS) Are Available. Selected students
will be expected to complete an MS degree in Geoscience within
Department of Geography and Geology.

Position 1. The selected graduate student will assist in implementation
and applications of a land-surface-atmosphere model.

Minimum qualification:

1) A bachelors degree with interest in land surface model applications,
2) some background in programming, and
3) exposure to unix or linux operating system.

Preferred qualification:

1) A bachelors degree in geography, meteorology, environmental science,
or any relevant fields,
2) some background in model applications,
3) strong background in programming (Fortran, C++, etc.), and
4) past work experience in unix or linux environment.

This position is funded by a grant from the USDA.

Position 2. The selected graduate student will assist in collection of
meteorological data from the field stations and their analyses.

Minimum qualification:

1) A bachelors degree with interest in micro-meteorology,
2) interest in meteorological instrumentation, and
3) interest in meteorological data analysis.

Preferred qualification:

1) A bachelors degree in geography, meteorology, environmental science,
or any relevant field,
2) some background in meteorological instrumentation,
3) some experience in field based data collection activities, and
4) some background in meteorological data analyses.

This position is funded by a grant from the USDA.

Position 3. The selected graduate student position will assist in
research projects focused on lands-surface atmosphere interactions using
models.

Minimum qualification:

1) A bachelors degree with interest in land surface model applications,
2) some background in programming, and
3) exposure to unix or linux operating system.

Preferred qualification:

1) A bachelors degree in geography, meteorology, environmental science,
or any relevant fields,
2) some background in model applications,
3) strong background in programming (Fortran, C++, etc.), and

This position is funded by the Kentucky Climate Center.

These assistantships are available from Spring (January), 2006 term.
