1)Meteorological Product Validation Expert

The role of the Meteorological Product Validation Expert will be to monitor and control the quality of the derived meteorological products from the EUMETSAT Geostationary Satellite data. He/she will supervise the operational processing chains for the meteorological product derivation and assume responsibility for daily monitoring activities. The activities will concentrate on the monitoring, verification and improvement of the various cloud products generated at EUMETSAT.

The successful candidate will have a university degree in meteorology or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years experience in remote sensing in Geophysics. He/she should have experience with, or knowledge of, meteorological products (especially cloud products) from satellite observations, and their analysis, validation and improvement. Candidates should have strengths in the analysis of meteorological products, coupled with effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.

2)Radio Occultation Mission Scientist

The role of the Radio Occultation Mission Scientist will be to provide scientific expertise to in-house and external projects in the field of radio occultation and remote sensing of the atmosphere, with a focus on the retrieval and extraction of geophysical products from data of the Global Navigation Satellite System. Interfacing with the meteorology user communities, he/she supports the Satellite Application Facility (SAF) on GRAS (Global navigation satellite system Receiver for Atmospheric Sounding) Meteorology.

The successful candidate will have a University degree in meteorology, physics or equivalent. He/she will have a strong background in the scientific and technical aspects of radio occultation and orbit processing (including instrument physics and extraction of geophysical products) and knowledge of related research and applications. The candidate will have at least 5 years experience in research and development work, as well as in managing and coordinating the interaction with the international user communities, researchers and scientists. Strong interpersonal and team working skills, as well analysis, synthesis and presentation skills are required.

Fluency in either English or French, together with a good working knowledge of the other language is necessary for both positions.
