CSIRO Atmospheric Research conducts research into weather, climate and atmospheric pollution. The Division is headquartered in Aspendale VIC and has staff based in Canberra ACT.
The Climate and Modelling Program is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to work as part of a team of scientists whose focus is on developing tools for weather and climate prediction.
You will contribute to the development and testing of existing CSIRO coupled climate models and of the new national ocean climate model (AusCOM), with emphasis on simulation of the tropical Indo-Pacific region. You will have a PhD (obtained within the last 3 years) in meteorology, physical oceanography, climate science or a related field with a sound knowledge of the important physical processes of the tropical atmosphere and oceans. A demonstrated high proficiency in FORTRAN programming is also essential.
