Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biosphere-Atmosphere Interaction Modeling

McMaster University, School of Geography and Geology
(http://www.science.mcmaster.ca/geo/), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada invites
applications for a postdoctoral position. The successful candidate will
work on improving carbon cycle and hydrologic processes in the
Carbon-Canadian Land Surface Scheme (C-CLASS). He or she will also be
responsible for developing and testing new methodologies for scaling
processes from leaf-to-tower-to-region using field data sets and to
calculate the sensitivity to scaling methodology of simulated carbon and
water exchange at local, regional and national scales.

Carbon cycle and hydrologic modelling activities at Climate Change
Research Group, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada are part
of Canadian Global Coupled Climate Carbon Model (CGC3M) Network Project
(http://www.geog.mcgill.ca/CGC3M/webpage.htm).

McMaster Climate Change Research Group operates four flux towers, known
at Turkey Point Flux Station to study the exchanges of carbon dioxide,
water vapour and energy over planted temperate conifer forest in
southern Ontario. Further details are given at
http://www.science.mcmaster.ca/geo/faculty/arain/research/index.htm.
Turkey Point Flux Station is part of the Fluxnet-Canada Research Network
(http://www.fluxnet-canada.ca).

The candidate should have or be about to obtain a Ph.D in meteorology,
hydrology, hydroclimatology, atmospheric physics or other related field.
Qualified applicants will have a background in soil-vegetation-
atmospheric interactions and strong analytical and programming skills.
Appointment will initially be for one year, renewable up to one more
year depending on performance and availability of funds. Salary will be
$36,000 to $40,000 per year plus benefits depending upon qualifications.

The position is available immediately, but we intend to fill it by May
