A 3-year PhD position is available at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences University of Bergen. The place of service will be at Unifob AS, Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research (BCCR). The Bjerknes Centre has the status of national Centre of Excellence.
Candidates must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in paleoceanography, marine geology or have a similar background. In particular, preferred applicants will have a documented knowledge of foraminifera and foraminiferal stable isotope methods in marine sedimentary environments. Candidates should also have an interest in applying geochemical and lithic proxies for reconstructing decadal to millennial scale changes in climate and Southern Hemisphere ocean-atmosphere circulation.
The successful candidate must fulfil the formal requirements for admission to the PhD program at the Faculty, and is expected to obtain the Ph.D within 3 years. The total duration of the stipend is 3 years.
Salary will be paid in accordance with level 38 on the government salary scale (code 1017), currently equivalent to NOK 287.700 per annum. Payment may be regulated on basis of seniority according to the public wage scale 38-45.
