The Institute for Meteorology at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany,
seeks 3 PhD-students in the field of atmospheric modelling and data
analysis. The project will be part of the national priority program
CAWSES (Climate and Weather in the Sun-Earth System) of the German
Science Foundation.
Responsibilities include the investigation of the impact of solar
variability of different time scales on climate; performance of
numerical simulations with the ECHAM global climate model system;
analy-sis of the model data and observations using advanced
physical-statistical analysis tools.
A M.Sc. or equivalent degree (e.g., German diploma) with physics or
maths background is required.
Expertise in programming (FORTRAN90, UNIX), numerical modelling und data
analysis is desirable.
The positions will be available for two years with the possibility of a
one year extension.
