The Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC), Granada (Spain) invites applications for a one and half year post-doctoral fellowship position to work with the measurements of the Earth’s atmosphere taken by the MIPAS instrument on board the European Space Agency ENVISAT satellite.

The successful candidate will join a small Group of the Solar System Department at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC) in Granada (Spain) and will work on:

• Non-LTE radiative transfer modelling
• Retrieval of atmospheric composition from MIPAS spectra
• Atmospheric chemistry and dynamics

Candidates should have a PhD in Physics and experience in remote sensing of the atmosphere(s) (preferably including IDL and Fortran programming under Unix or Linux).

Salary is in the range 23.000 to 30.000 Euros (gross), depending on experience. The position is for a 18-months term, with possible extension for 6 months.

Commencement date is flexible but September 2005 at the latest.
