Suggest Changes and Logo for our site

We hope many of you have gone through the site and liked it. Now the next step is the improvement of the site. You can improve the site by suggesting wht all we have to add/delete/edit in the site...

One of the important thing that we need in our site is one logo which can reflect the oceanogaraphic community.. please answer these questions as you log in (just copt it to new thread and answer)

5. Is there any change required? What changes? May be we should make the front page a bit more picturesque with the current logo (Oceanographers Net) modified. It is just written now. We may incorporate it with some ocean related picture..

Jayan sent me one suggestion:
You have scripted some of the notes in white (in a pale BG),
I had to select the whole text to read the stuffs in.
May be you could change those to a contrasting colour.

Is it for just the front page or for all the threads?
If for the whole site, we may need to change the
total style and color pattern (has to make it all
matching). It will take time but will do it on next major
updation.

Vinu was having some problems with downloading attachments
in Opera in Linux. Does anybody else have similar problems?
It must be some problem with the browser identifying the
cookies.

I think changing phont color in the front page will be effective

you can check some contrasting colors (in good combination).

Okay, the background color of threads is changed to white.
Other changes later. Is it better now? easy readable?

Hi ALL,
With out much waiting our intended website is up congragulations for those who worked behind it especially rocksea anand and vinu. By hoisting a dedicated web site we are becoming more responsible members of the fraternity and our website should reflect it. Contents can be borrowed or original with due credits to originators. Photos appear in our site should bear the location/name of individual etc on it(perhaps on the sides). If we copy articles the information of the source should appear in the heading itself and should not end with a mere courtesy. Above all, if the article is not original its not necessary to give the entire story it is advisable to give the gist and the link. This may save our neck sometimes, time and space too. Please check these before we post information on our site. Regarding the LoGo. Is it possible to have a neat schematic of EKMAN spiral as our logo.

Hi all,

I have a small thought about the 'Signature', that we use in our postings.

you know, these signatures appear in each and every posts. For example
if your post contains only one sentense or two, your bottom-signature
contains five or six sentences, seems like, you are 'posting your
signature, not your message'. Is it something looking weared?

well, my suggestion is,

1. Try to avoid the signature in posts. As your every details is
included in the 'member details', if some one want to know about you,
they can refer your personnel things by looking at the 'memebr details'.
It is easy to access, by clicking the name, which is coming along with your post.

2. If you really want to keep the signature item in your post, I am asking
the Administator, Hey, is there a way to give the sginature as a 'single-line'
link? so that only those wish to see your signature can view it by
clicking at that link.

for example:

your message, blah blah blah blah blah

some one clicks, they can see.

either way, i would say it is un-necessary, what others think?

Just stupid Logo only for starting the process :) It’s usual T and S colors.
