Open Rank - Physical Oceanographer

BIOS invites application for a PhD level sea-going physical scientist to join an internationally renowned marine research staff. We expect that the successful candidate will take a leadership role in the observational and multidisciplinary oceanography programs focused on the Station S and BATS time-series programs at Bermuda. We anticipate that in addition to a strong background in physical and dynamical oceanography, the candidate must have a strong commitment to maintaining and growing our time-series observations and understanding of the biology and chemistry of the North Atlantic. We require strong sea-going skills and active participation in time-series cruises, and mentorship for a group of research technicians and graduate students. Candidates should have excellent numerical and computational skills, experience with data management and data serving, and a desire to publish in the peer-reviewed literature. BIOS has joint PhD programs with several major universities and is the Nippon Foundation/ POGO Center of Excellence for Observational Oceanography so there are opportunities for teaching and mentoring. The position is open to all applicants and ranks of experience.
Please send letter of interest and resume by e-mail to Dr. Anthony Knap, BIOS (Gillian.Hollis@bios.edu) 441 297 1880 ext 237.
