PhD Studentship

PhD positions are available to study “Ecological Developmental Biology” – the development of embryo/larvae/juveniles of marine organisms in the real world (which includes larval dispersal, molecular plasticity and behavior).
Requirements: We are seeking talented, enthusiastic and creative young researchers with a strong commitment to molecular ecology research. Excellent communication skills (in English), both oral and written, are essential. Previous research experience in molecular biology and/or aquatic ecology is advantageous.
Qualifications: We prefer candidates with a Master’s degree in marine science; biochemistry or zoology or related subjects. Applicants with a 1st Class (or Upper Second) BSc Hons degree may also be considered. PhD studentships are for 3-4 years and available from August 2008. As such students will be exposed to a diverse, vibrant and interdisciplinary research environment. Students in our group will receive training in many aspects of molecular ecology, developmental biology and coastal ecology.
