Hi Roxy,

There are lot of spam members joing to this website and it is very
difficult to delete all of them and identify truethful ones from a list of
hudred members.

To avoid this, I suggest, to put a common name tag with all members
who makes new registration. For example, if 'Sureshkumar' is the desired
login name of a fellow, it should be asked to add a tag at the end such as
'Sureshkumar_ONet' at the time of registry. This way, it is easy to identify
a spam member.

Is it possible?

Hello Vinu,

Sorry for a delayed response as I haven't yet assumed my new office, with a decent internet connection. Once I have joined, will try to do some roundabouts (like the one you suggested) to minimize spam user registrations.

with the recent upgradation of the website, it is more secure and registration by spam users is almost nill now. there are also better options for security like -> asking questions to a user registering, but it is turned off for the time being to keep registration easier.

Asking permission before giving access to the forum is popular and secure. So I feel if any time spammers starts coming in again, we can set that ON.

hi praveen, the website has been already running like what you said, from the start. i.e. users are allowed to use the forum to post or download attachments only after their user registrations are moderated. the problem vinu and a few of us (who moderate user registrations) faced was there were a lot of spam registrations to moderate. so recently a better system was installed, which is blocking spam registrations efficiently.

if you are talking about blocking total access (even viewing posts), that would be like closing ourselves from the outside world.. no body will register without first seeing it as a useful site.
