Climate and Microclimate modelling
Arup is a world leading firm of engineers and consultants providing design, project management and consultancy services. We have delivered some of the world's most remarkable landmarks, ranging from the Sydney Opera House, and the City of Manchester Stadium, designed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, to The Angel of the North.
The Environmental Physics Team in our London office seeks to recruit a new MSc graduate to work in the area of Climate and Microclimate Modelling in response to an increasing need to understand and design better external spaces in the built environment. The major motivation for this work relates to the need to design more energy and carbon efficient buildings and to respond to the demands of a changing climate.
We are looking for someone to carry out quantitative analyses of microclimates at an urban, neighbourhood and building scale. The work will be a mix of meteorology, mathematical modelling and input into design and will involve working with people in various parts of the company and direct with clients.
The ideal candidate is likely to have a good first degree in physics or applied mathematics and a Masters degree in weather, climate or atmospheric science. The successful candidate is very likely to have a good understanding of meteorological phenomena, and ideally will have some computer programming experience. A demonstrable interest in design in the built environment is likely to be advantageous.
Prospective candidates should complete an online graduate application form at http://www.arup.com/careers.cfm (http://www.arup.com/careers.cfm) and select "Environmental Physics" when offered a choice of discipline.

Best of Luck!
