The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services
Administration (PAGASA) is offering scholarships for Master of
Science and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in Meteorology.
This unique programme is being offered under an arrangement with WMO,
PAGASA and the University of the Philippines.
PAG-ASA accepts scholars
Bacolod City (23 May) -- Aside from predicting the weather and climate changes, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is now accepting scholars for Master of Science and Doctorate (Ph.D.) degrees in Meteorology.
PAG-ASA Director Engr. Martin Rellin said that this program is a bid to increase the science and technology manpower in the said field. The bureau is set to accept five scholars from PAG-ASA and five non-PAG-ASA scholars including those interested from other countries.
The scholarship program is a joint project with the United Nations' World Meteorological Organization and the University of the Philippines.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo through the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute gave a total P100 million budget for the graduate school programs which Rellin hopes that once the share of the bureau is released, more scholars will be admitted into the program.
Meanwhile, the DOST-SEI is also accepting scholars for Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program AY 2007-2008.
Scholarship is open to qualified individuals who would like to pursue Masterof Science degrees in priority areas of science and technology.
